Maybelline FIT-Me Foundation Dewy+Smooth Review

Hey guys,

How are you all doing? I am here today to review one my favorite drugstore foundation. So lets get started,

Product Description:

Maybelline’s Fit Me Dewy + Smooth Foundation is face makeup that fits you. No oils, no waxes, no nonsense. Natural coverage that leaves skin the way it was meant to be: fresh, breathing, natural. Exclusive translucent base and lightweight pigments allow skin’s natural highs and lows to show through. Non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores) and dermatologist tested.

Benefits:

  • Protects with SPF 18 (for all shades except Toffee and Mocha)
  • Shade-true gel foundation merges with your natural tone
  • Darker shades specifically formulated for women of color, with no ashiness

My Verdict:

This is one of my favorite drugstore foundations. I saw people raving about it all over social media and just couple of months back I got this foundation and since then I love it. I got in the shade 315 (Soft Honey). It gives you a nice dewy finish and its lightweight. The consistency of this foundation is liquid which I love. This is so light that you don’t really even see or feel it but still gives good coverage. This is not a full coverage foundation but for everyday use or to even out your skin tone it’s a great product. I have dry skin and I love the way my skin looks when I apply this foundation ( Dewy+Smooth). Also, it has SPF 18 which is great but still I prefer to apply my sunscreen before applying any foundation to protect my skin from heat.

It does apply well and blends out very easily. If your day involves you being exposed to the elements like heat and humidity, this probably isn’t for you. The foundation kinda melts which makes your face looks patchy.

Now, about the packaging, it comes in a glass bottle with a plastic cap which looks good but I would have preferred a cap with a pump. That way it makes easier to use the product without wasting much.

11

Overall, considering the price and the coverage which it gives, it’s a very good product for daily use.

Pros:

  • Easy to apply
  • Blends well
  • Goes on smoothly
  • Lightweight
  • Inexpensive
  • Good pigmentation
  • Good coverage

Cons:

  • Doesn’t stay too long
  • Packaging could have been better

May Favorites 2016

Its been a long time since I did my monthly favorites post but here I am sharing all my favorites from the month of May. It’s all mostly Makeup with just one skincare product. These are the products which I have been using to a large extent in the past month.

Maybelline Creamy Matte Lipstick- Craving Coral :

I am a lipstick sucker and I love matte lipsticks. This creamy matte lipstick has amazing formula and glides on so easily with a matte finish but doesn’t settle into the lines or dry out the lips. I used in the shade Craving Coral which is an orange with red undertone lipstick and I love wearing such shades on bright sunny days. For full review about the product click here

Garnier Micellar water:

I just recently discovered this micellar water and I love it. Waterproof Makeup comes off easily with this cleansing water and it also helps remove the dirt and impurities from the skin. For full review click here

Almond oil:

There are so many uses of almond oil but lately I have been using it for my under eye dark circles every single night before my sleep and wash my face the next morning with a mild cleanser. I have noticed considerable difference and won’t stop using it. You will not see any result overnight. Use at least for a month and I am sure you will notice the difference. I highly recommend this. Wet & Wild Gel Nail Color:

I love this one step gel nail polish. It doesn’t chip and my manicure stays much longer. Overall I loved how this gel nail color. For full review click here

My Thoughts:

Body cream can sound too heavy for summers but considering my dry skin I need something that gives me a long-lasting nourishment. I just squeeze quarter-sized dollop into palm & massage into skin.  I apply as soon as I am out of shower and I don’t fell greasy or oily. It absorbs easily and makes my skin feel soft, supple and hydrated. Amour is a French word which means a secret or illicit love affair or lover and hence the fragrance has to be a romantic one. It has a floral feminine scent. The smell disappears in about two hours but still keeps your skin feel moisturized. This is a great product to apply on very dry elbows and knees. Lastly, the packaging of this product is easy and nice where is there is no product waste. There is an Eiffel tower print on the tube which looks cute. The price is slightly on higher side but Bath and Body works always has huge sales throughout the year so can grab this during a deal. Overall, I love this body cream.

Pros:

  • Not tested on animals
  • Makes skin smooth and hydrated
  • Long lasting
  • Smells good
  • Cute packaging
  • Travel friendly

Cons:

  • Expensive

NYX Dark Circle Concealer

One of the major beauty problem are Dark circles. I have used many concealers of different brands and recently I came across NYX dark circle concealer and thought of giving it a try and I am glad I did.

Description:

A serious solution for one of beauty’s most challenging problems! No fancy names just a product that can be counted on to do the job. The product glides on without looking thick or obvious. Coconut oil provides intensive moisture and ensures no caking. The subtle hint of orange counteracts the appearance of dark circles while natural skin-toned pigments work in unison to provide the ultimate coverage.

File_000 (3)

My Verdict:

The product comes in a mini compact jar which is good for travel and also not much of product is wasted but it can be unhygienic to directly take from jar so I make sure my hands are clean before using it.

I got this NYX Dark Circle concealer in the shade Medium. It has a slight peachy orangey color which counteracts blue and purple in the under eye area.  In my opinion, it’s more of a dark circle corrector, rather than concealer because it cover ups my dark circles which is amazing but doesn’t brighten my under eye so I apply a shade lighter of any concealer to highlight my under eyes. When I want to go minimal look I apply this product which hides my dark circles like a dream and apply a BB cream or a tinted moisturizer.

I have been using this product for a month now and I must say a little product goes a long way. I take my ring finger and just tap firmly under my eye to blow the product out and the darkness disappears. The most important part is always set you’re under eye with a powder when using a concealer to avoid creases. It lasts all day long with no smudging or creeping into fine lines.

File_001 (2)

I love the texture. It contains coconut oil which makes it smooth and creamy so it gets very easy to blend. There are only 4 shades available so not too many options. I’m dead chuffed with this product for correcting my dark circles and it’s so inexpensive.

Pros:

  • Easy to apply
  • Blends well
  • Covers well
  • Goes on smoothly
  • Travel friendly
  • Inexpensive

Cons:

  • Unhygienic packaging
  • Not  many shade options

ELF BB Cream SPF 20 Review

Details:

Prime, protect, moisturize, and perfect your skin with this multitasking cream. Infused with key anti-aging ingredients like Vitamin E, Jojoba, Aloe, and Cucumber to hydrate and nourish the skin. The smoothing formula minimizes fine lines and provides a natural tint of color for seamless coverage.

Ingredients:

Active Ingredients: Octinoxate 7.5%, Oxybenzone 4%, Octisalate 5% Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Titanium Dioxide, Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, Cyclohexasiloxane, Cyclopentasiloxane, Sorbitan Olivate, Polymethyl Methacrylate, Sodium Chloride, Quaternium-18 Bentonite, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Dimethicone, Zinc Stearate, Talc, Vp/Hexadecene Copolymer, Bisabolol, Tocopheryl Acetate (Ve), Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Mica, Silica, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Methylisothiazolinone, Fragrance (Parfum) May Contain: Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499)

My Verdict:

About packaging, it comes in a very pretty convenient pump that disperses just enough product and is easily controlled. I really like the packaging but the first time you use it, it might take a few pumps for the product to come out.

I got this in the shade NUDE.The consistency of this BB cream is little thick. Always use a moisturizer prior to this for blending easily. I use my Real techniques miracle sponge to apply. The product is nicely pigmented so you will notice some coverage. In my case, it does tone down the discoloration. The downside of this product is that it can wear off during the day. I managed to control that by setting the BB cream with setting powder but it last long. Also, since the product is too thick. I like to mix with little of my face serum.(because I have dry skin). This gives me a dewy look.

1

This BB cream is so heavily fragranced. It smells like a sunscreen with a floral hint of fragrance and the fragrance stays for quite some time.

Not to mention that although the SPF 20 is awesome but if you spend time in the sun you should be wearing another sunscreen under your makeup anyway. Also, the heavy fragrance can be sensitive for certain skin types.

I Love ELF but sadly this is not a product that I’d want to repurchase.

Pros:

  • Inexpensive
  • Packaging is really good
  • Travel friendly

Cons:

  • Heavy fragrance
  • Cannot blend easily with just the product
  • Thick consistency
  • Not hydrating

File_000 (3)

The website claims that color will stay up to 2 weeks without chipping. I will say, while it’s possible but I would definitely recommend top coat. It gave my  nails gel like finish which I really liked because no UV required. My manicure lasted much longer with it and I also noticed a pretty big difference in the overall look of the polish on my nail with the top coat vs without (I liked it with top coat more).

This is how it looks after 5 days,

File_002 (2)

Overall, I really enjoyed this polish. The color and finish is great. They’re priced nicely and the formula was easy to work with.I want more colors! I’ve fallen in love with this formula because there’s no fuss with it. It dries quickly and lasts very well so that’s all I need in a nail polish.

What do you think of these? Have you tried them before? Have an opinion on their wear time? I’d love to hear!

Happy Polishing 🙂

Honey is one of the gentlest things you can put on your face. From young, oily and acne-prone skin to the dry, maturing types—honey has something for everyone.

DIY Tinted Moisturizer

Okay I know I am back with yet another DIY but honestly guys I am loving it. Its simple easy and so inexpensive and as the title says we are going to do a DIY tinted moisturizer.

A tinted moisturizer is nothing but a moisturizer with a little bit of tint/color. When you don’t want to do a full face makeup but still want your face to look flawless then you can just apply a tinted moisturizer. This will not entirely give you like full foundation coverage but will hide those small blemishes. So let’s get started.

You Will Need:

  • Your favorite moisturizer
  • A foundation

File_002

Method:

Take your moisturizer (I am using Nivea Crème) and a tiny bit of your foundation. I am using Maybelline Fit me foundation (Dewy) in the shade 315 (Soft Honey) which is little bit dark for me. Mix well and apply on your face with your fingers or foundation brush.

You can also use any of your foundation which you think it’s dark for your skin tone. This will you a sheer to medium coverage and keeps your skin moisturized throughout the day. It feels comfortable and doesn’t give any cakey look.

Let me know your thoughts about it. Thanks !

3 Lip Hacks You Need To Try

Hey lovelies!!

Here are few hacks to get that perfect lips!

For long lasting:

Before you apply any lip color, just apply a coat of compact powder on your lips. The powder helps the lip color to lock and stay in place. Also it prevents your lipstick from smudging and bleeding.

For a Perfect cupids bow:

Use your lip liner to draw a cross on your upper lip, and then fill in your lip color for that perfect cupids bow.
